MIDDLETOWN, Ohio
– Following slight movement at the top of the tight team standings, Cedarville leads the pack following the conclusion of 36 holes at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship on Monday.

Led by one of three players tied for second, Taylor Holt, the Yellow Jackets (322-323--645) were able to overtake Alderson Broaddus (320-329--649) after the Battlers led by two strokes at the end of the first round.

Trevecca Nazarene (328-332) is settled in third with a two-round total of 660, Davis & Elkins (333-339) has established itself in fourth with a 36-hole total of 672, while Ohio Valley is entrenched in fifth just two strokes back of D&E.

Kentucky Wesleyan improved by nine strokes in its second round team total to round out the current scoring.

Like the women’s field, the men adjusted to less-than-ideal weather conditions and dealt with strong winds for the majority of the day.

Holt, John Sandlas and Jordan Glick, each tallied respective 81’s in their first 18 holes while Jeremy Royer had the team’s best score of 79 through the first round. Three of the five in the CU lineup improved from their first-round total to finish the day.

Davis & Elkins’ Alistair Cameron stands as the top individual in a close race for medalist honors after he conquered the elements with a 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) on the par-72 layout at Four Bridges Country Club.

Cameron ended the first round in a tie with Alderson Broaddus freshman Seth Vannoy, who also carded a 76 before finishing the afternoon with an 81.

Vannoy is tied for second with Cedarville’s Holt and AB’s James Jeffries, one of last year’s top performers at the conference championship.

Cameron carries a sizable six-stroke lead heading into the third and final round of the tournament tomorrow.

After winning back-to-back conference titles in the conference’s young archives, Trevecca Nazarene enjoyed a first-round tally of 77 by Aaron Burnett while Payton Williams solidified himself in a tie for eighth.

The final round of the G-MAC Championships is set to begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow with a shotgun start. The awards ceremony will follow after the conclusion of play.
