Payton Williams named Men's Golfer of the Month

GREENWOOD, Ind. - As the spring portion of the 2014-15 golf season opened this past month with spring break tournaments, Trevecca Nazarene freshman Payton Williams participated in his first collegiate tournaments after not playing in the fall. With his performance to begin his career, Williams was named March's Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Month.

The 2014-15 Men’s Golf spring season has officially begun as the teams prepare for the G-MAC Championships at the end of April. Payton Williams, who did not play in the fall season, established himself in his first month of collegiate golf as a contender for the top spot in the conference. With his performances in March, Williams has been named the G-MAC Men’s Golfer of the Month.
 
The Trojans participated in two tournaments this past month, starting with the Battle at the Beach tournament hosted by Tiffin over spring break in Myrtle Beach, North Carolina. The team managed a seventh place finish in a small field of 12 teams. Williams finished in a three-way tie for 9th, posting a two-round total of 151 (75-76). 

TNU then hosted their annual Trevecca Invitational to close out the month, finishing fourth out of 11 teams. Once again, Williams paced the Trojans as he finished tied for eighth place with a two-round total of 146 (74-72).
