GREENWOOD, Ind. – Trevecca Nazarene freshman Larken Whittemore was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Athlete of the Month for October on Tuesday.
Whittemore, like TNU’s G-MAC Women’s Golf Athlete of the Month Alexa Rippy, is a repeat selection for conference honors after impressing on the links in a three-tournament stint.
Whittemore recorded two more top-10 finishes and a tie for 27th in a strong month that featured a scoring average of 74.67 in six rounds played.
In the weather-shortened Trevecca Nazarene-hosted TNU Invitational, the rising first-year Trojan posted his only round at even par (72). Whittemore finished tied for third in the individual standings.
Trevecca Nazarene was able to claim the team title, finishing first of seven in attendance.
At the TVA Credit Union Invite, Whittemore’s third-round total of 74 (+2) helped set the stage for a total of 226. In Alabama, Trevecca Nazarene was able to finish 13th as a team.
In TNU’s first event of October at the Midwest Regional in Eureka, Mo., Whittemore again led the Trojans with rounds of 76 and 74 for a two-round score of 150.
He finished tied for seventh with 119 total golfers in the field and TNU tied for ninth as a team.
