GREENWOOD, Ind. – Kentucky Wesleyan emerged from the pack with at least a share of first place in both Great Midwest Athletic Conference men's and women's basketball standings in the past week of competition.
KWC and Cedarville remain locked in a two-way tie for first in the G-MAC women's standings -- either the Panthers or Lady Jackets will endure their first league defeat this week when the two teams lock horns in Cedarville.
The men's and women's indoor track and field season also resumed with a handful of records being threatened/shattered by a pair of Trevecca women's cross country standouts.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
In the driver’s seat at the top of the standings, Kentucky Wesleyan (13-3, 3-0 G-MAC) continues to churn out weekly conference honors with the talented trio of Ken-Jah Bosley, C.J. Blackwell and most recently, Devin Langford.
The Panthers trumped Trevecca (6-8, 2-1 G-MAC) at home and extended their win streak to nine straight. Earlier in the week, Langford, a junior transfer from the University of Illinois, erupted for a career-high 28 points against Oakland City. He only missed one shot from the floor (6-for-7) in a pivotal G-MAC clash against Trevecca.
Part of the KWC sweep that separated ties for first in both men’s and women’s standings, Langford. The Panthers were undefeated in the month of December and their winning streak originated back on Dec. 4.
The Trojans’ bid to grab first in the league standings was denied in Owensboro. Second-half shooting woes hurt Trevecca despite four players scoring in double figures.
Alderson Broaddus (11-5, 3-1 G-MAC) continued trending upward following a pair of conference wins against Central State and Cedarville on the Battlers’ home floor in Philippi. AB has won four straight and have had balanced contributions across the board.
Recently, the Battlers have had four different leading scorers in as many games and Thylas Perkins has ramped it up in conference play, averaging nearly five points in G-MAC games.
Ohio Valley (2-9, 2-2 G-MAC) briefly stepped out of conference play, but were stopped by a strong Oakland City squad that has fashioned a 9-2 record at this point in the season.
Cedarville (4-11, 1-1 G-MAC) split its conference-opening road trip in West Virginia as Marcus Reineke had plenty of help in the box score against Davis & Elkins. Reineke scored 13 and was joined by three others in double-figures, including 14 from J.C. Faubion.
In similar fashion, the Marauders of Central State (8-6, 1-1 G-MAC) fashioned a split against AB and D&E. Despite shooting under 38 percent in the first half, Central State won the second-half battle against the Senators, eventually prevailing by a 22-point margin. Sterling Gilmore led the way with 20 points.
Davis & Elkins (5-10, 1-4 G-MAC) is trying to put the brakes on a four-game slide. The Senators were on the short end of matchups against Central State and Cedarville while falling to Bluefield State for the second time this year.
Salem International (2-11, 0-4 G-MAC) racked up its second win of the season against West Virginia Tech as Cortney Pitts erupted for 28 points. WVT entered the game with a 13-4 overall record. Pitts also had 15 points by halftime in the Tigers’ effort against McKendree.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
The Lady Panthers of Kentucky Wesleyan (8-5, 4-0 G-MAC) continued their streak, ultimately winning eight of their last nine games. KWC took down Trevecca (6-8, 3-1 G-MAC) with a big win, keeping them tied atop the conference standings with Cedarville.
In its only game of the week, KWC had a balanced scoring attack with seven players scoring at least seven points, while Jennifer Crawford-Walker had a team-high 11. Christina Curtner added 17 for the Lady Trojans, making it four straight games in double digits for the senior guard.
Central State (3-9, 1-3 G-MAC) found themselves out of the cellar with their first conference win of the season when it defeated Alderson-Broaddus (4-10, 2-3 G-MAC), which dropped both of their games this week.
Senior guard Iniquia Snell was at it again for the Lady Marauders scoring 18 points, while Kourtni Perry and Amanda Pierce both put up 18 and 16, respectively. Jordan Parker put in 16 in AB’s effort.
Alderson Broaddus was unable to rebound from its loss as Cedarville (13-2, 4-0 G-MAC) dismantled the Lady Battlers just days after handing Davis & Elkins (7-6, 3-2 G-MAC) a 36-point defeat.
The Lady Jackets’ own Kayla Linkous took home G-MAC Athlete of the Week honors as she averaged 20 points and 9 rebounds in the two wins helping Cedarville continue to build their case for an NCAA tourney at-large bid. The Lady Jackets received votes in the USA Today Top-25 Coaches Poll and are currently ranked fifth in the D2SIDA Midwest Region media poll.
D&E’s Sharmaine Baker continued her dominance with 19 points with five rebounds against Cedarville and 26 points with five rebounds versus Central State.
Salem International (0-17, 0-5 G-MAC) lost a close contest to Ursuline (3-13, 2-4 G-MAC), as it attempted to put one in the win column. Makayla Rosselot led the charge for the Arrows in the G-MAC win as she was red-hot from long range, draining 6-of-7 attempts from behind the arc.
Ohio Valley (3-10, 2-3 G-MAC) won both of its games of the week, taking down Ursuline and non-conference opponent Kent State at Tuscarawas. Meissa Ndeye Diop is averaging over 16 ppg over her past three for the Fighting Scots, who look to work their way up in the conference standings when they head to Salem International.
In a must-see, Cedarville hosts Kentucky Wesleyan this weekend to determine sole possession of first place in the G-MAC.
