GREENWOOD, Ind. – Alderson Broaddus University and Kentucky Wesleyan College both had their offenses tracked while Central State University went up against one of the nation’s best over the weekend on the gridiron.

The Battlers racked up 578 yards of total offense and took it to Limestone College with a 26-point second quarter in a lopsided 67-14 final. The Panthers made a West Coast trip and came away with a 33-14 over Arizona Christian.

The Marauders tangled with No. 14 Delta State University (now ranked No. 11 in the nation) and had a tough afternoon to the tune of a 72-8 final score.

Alderson Broaddus 67, Limestone 14

Quarterback Wilson Vaughn threw five touchdowns and running back Brandon Jones toppled the century mark in rushing for the fourth consecutive week as ABU (3-1) handled Limestone on the road in South Carolina.

Cooper Schroeder and Darius Frederick each hauled in a pair of scoring receptions as the Battlers blew this one open in the second quarter.

Following a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, Alderson Broaddus reeled off four touchdown-scoring drives, capped off with a 39-yard scamper by Jones that gave the Battlers a 36-7 edge at the break.

Vaughn threw two more touchdowns in the second half -- both in the third quarter -- as he found Schroeder and Frederick for scoring strikes of nine and 11 yards.

Special teams also factored into the final score as Jordan Butler made a pair of 30+ yard field goals and Donovan Jackson returned a punt 66 yards for a score.

The defense forced nine Limestone punts and recorded a pair of sacks.

Kentucky Wesleyan 33, Arizona Christian 14

The Panthers (2-2) secured back-to-back wins under the lights in Phoenix as Dalton Oliver torched Arizona Christian through the air to the tune of 396 yards and four touchdowns.

Keelan Cole had another huge afternoon with five catches for 123 yards and three more TD’s. Cole caught short, intermediate and long, scoring passes of two, 17 and 67 yards, against the ACU secondary.

Cole is now averaging just under 120 yards per game receiving to complement his 26 catches for 479 yards and six touchdowns.

The Panthers’ defense held Arizona Christian off the scoreboard deep into the third quarter, building a 19-0 lead up to that point.

Myles Walker was the workhorse on the ground with 23 carries for 137 yards. Micah Crutcher had a pair of sacks and Tyler Hermann was the ringleader off a stingy pass defense with two interceptions.

Oliver was 19-of-39 through the air and went over 1,000 yards passing on the season. KWC amassed a season-high 586 yards of total offense and outgained its opponent by almost 150 yards despite each team running 79 plays.

No. 14 Delta State 72, Central State 8

The Marauders (1-3) continue to play in prime locations (Bahamas, Chicago’s Soldier Field), but ran into an unbeaten Delta State program that put up 56 points in the opening week against Fort Valley State and 49 more in week two vs. Valdosta State.

Central State’s next game will be in Indianapolis this weekend versus Kentucky State at Lucas Oil Stadium, home to the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, as part of the Circle City Classic.

The Marauders were buried early with a 28-0 first-quarter eruption by the Statesmen -- a pair of short scoring runs and two scoring passes of 20 and 34 yards.

CSU scored the first points of the second quarter on a two-yard scoring strike from Terrence Wafford to Christopher Mur to cap an 80-yard drive, but the Marauders were outscored 31-6 in the second and third quarters combined.

Central State recorded a safety on a returned PAT in the fourth quarter. Delta State had 542 yards of total offense to CSU’s 212.
