Alderson Broaddus and freshman Deshawn Parker stole the show with a pair of wins against Ohio Valley and Salem International to grab the early lead in the G-MAC standings.
Parker, just a freshman, was brilliant as he riddled the Fighting Scots for a hat trick in the first 20 minutes and change of regulation and assisted the game-winning boot by Marco Purfumo in the 58th minute. Perfumo is tied for the league lead in assists with three.
Parker was a deserving recipient of G-MAC Athlete of the Week honors as he leads the league in both points (12) and goals (5).
After a scoreless first half, Cedarville and Trevecca battled it out under the lights for an entertaining double overtime draw on Friday.
Both teams scored twice in the second half and the play of the year may have been executed by CU’s Ethan Lee, whose bicycle kick in the 89th minute to tie went viral as it circulated to the masses.
Salem International (vs. D&E) and Davis & Elkins (vs. Ohio Valley) each recorded their first conference wins.
Eliott Cook made 10 saves in net for a 3-0 shutout as SIU toppled D&E despite being outshot 18-10. He is allowing less than one goal per game along with Cedarville netminder Paulo Pinto.
SIU’s Tomas Szabo, third in the G-MAC in goals, notched his fourth goal of the fall for the Tigers and leads the conference in game winners with two.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
G-MAC preseason favorite Ursuline continues to set the tempo with a 5-1 record, including a pair of conference wins against Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca last week.
After G-MAC goals/points leader Paige Rowan earned weekly conference honors, teammate Vanessa Consiglio was this week’s choice. Consiglio snapped a scoreless match against KWC with a goal in the 72nd minute and had another score and assist vs. the Trojans.
Consiglio has nine points in her last four games resulting in a four-game win streak for Ursuline. On the year, she has 12 points to rank second only behind Rowan (13).
KWC’s Annie Elder is quietly sustaining her strong season after scoring in her team’s 2-1 win vs. Cedarville. She now has four goals on the year, tied for third in the league.
Trevecca’s Anna Hoffman also recorded her fourth goal of the season against Cedarville in a 2-0 shutout.

VOLLEYBALL
Ohio Valley and reigning G-MAC Athlete of the Week Alyx Henry were busy with four more tournament matches in Illinois that resulted in a split.
The Fighting Scots possess several players at the top of several statistical categories in the league: Imani Ward in total kills (157) and Jessica Simpson in total assists (444). Megan Morrison is second in total digs and Felicia Zartman is second in total blocks.
Henry passed the torch for weekly G-MAC honors to Caitlin Cain of Alderson Broaddus. Cain (10 K, six digs, three assists, eight service aces, .476 hitting) was spectacular in all facets as the Battlers prevailed in straight sets during the lone conference match of the week against Davis & Elkins on the road.
Trevecca is in the midst of a six-match win streak and Ursuline has won four straight. Both will be tested on Tuesday against Oakland City and Notre Dame (Ohio), respectively, to extend those winning trends.
The G-MAC schedule will resume on Friday with Cedarville/Alderson Broaddus, Salem International/Ursuline and Central State/Davis & Elkins, scheduled to meet.

MEN'S & WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Cedarville dominated both the men’s and women’s events at the Yellow Jackets-hosted 24th Annual Friendship Invitational on Saturday.
CU’s senior Benjamin Tuttle (25:01) won the 8K event on the men’s side and junior Alexandra Archambault was runner-up in the women’s 5K edition.
Tuttle’s time was tops in the G-MAC this year and Archambault now owns almost half of the league’s best top-10 times in 5k distances. Both were tabbed as respective G-MAC Athletes of the Week.
Tuttle was aided by Clay Watson (fourth), Matt Pelletier (14th) and Daniel Michalski (15th), in the team’s second-place effort, while freshman Carsyn Koch (third) and sophomore Rachel Groh (seventh), placed inside the top 10 for the women as the Lady Jackets won the team portion of competition.
Alderson Broaddus’ Jenny Brewer was the individual winner at the Saint Vincent Invitational and Ellen Cantaral (Davis & Elkins) placed sixth overall to lead a strong G-MAC effort in Pennsylvania.
ABU’s Scott Nesland carried the torch for the conference on the men’s side as he finished seventh overall with a time of 27:54. The freshman has now finished second, fifth and seventh, in his first three collegiate meets.
