MEN’S GOLFER OF THE MONTH
Ian Clark
Davis & Elkins - Freshman
Chard, Somerset - Richard Hurish
The 2013-14 spring men’s golf season opened up in March and Ian Clark has been named G-MAC’s Men’s Golfer of the Month for March as the freshman at Davis & Elkins College led his team in two tournaments in difficult spring conditions.
In the two outings in March, Clark posted a first place finish (tied) and a 19th place finish as well. In the springs first tournament, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University, Clark led his team with a consistent two round total of 145 (72-73) to tie for first place. Facing off against much of the GLIAC, Clark helped his team place sixth in a field of 11, which included G-MAC opponent Ohio Valley (10th).
In his only other outing in March, Clark once again was consistent, firing a two round total of 155 (76-79), this time facing much of the G-MAC competition he will see at the G-MAC Championships. He finished tied for 19th and helped the Senators place eighth overall in wintery conditions. Among the G-MAC golfers in the field, he tied for eighth overall out of 34 conference golfers.

-----------------------
Men’s and Women’s Golf name an Athlete of the Month, rather than Athlete of the Week due to the fact that the NCAA golf season covers both the fall and spring semesters. The randomness of a specific golf schedule also does not adapt itself well to a weekly award since there are weeks in which a team may not play and tournaments are not restricted to weekends only. Winners will be announced following the months of September, October, March, and April.
