Under head coach Brett Faro, the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville completed an undefeated regular-season conference run to back up their preseason billing as the league favorite.
His top-seeded squad from Southwest division awaits a first-round bye and will observe tournament quarterfinal action along with Northeast division No. 1 seed Davis & Elkins.
Whether those two programs are on a collision course for the final remains to be seen.
Cedarville awaits the winner of No. 2 Alderson Broaddus (Northeast division) and No. 3 Kentucky Wesleyan (Southwest division) while the other first-round matchup pits No. 2 Trevecca (Southwest division) vs. No. 3 Salem International (Northeast division).
Connor Gilmour of Cedarville scored five goals and assisted two others as the Yellow Jackets ended the conference calendar with two shutouts and a 7-2 win. Gilmour, the league’s leader in goals and points this year, netted a hat trick against Trevecca as he earned weekly league honors.
The Battlers and Panthers will collide in Philippi on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for their second meeting of the fall. KWC goalkeeper Grant Allen made five saves as the Panthers blanked ABU earlier, 1-0, but fans can expect another tightly-contested contest with everything on the line to advance.
In Nashville, the Trojans and Tigers will square off at 6 p.m. (CST) also on Saturday. Record-wise, Salem International has the slight upper hand, but playing on Trevecca’s home pitch should be advantage. These two teams met less than two weeks ago as Salem International pulled out a 5-3 win on the road versus its first-round opponent.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Ursuline and a high-octane offense has its sights locked in on conference tournament glory as the No. 1 seed. The Arrows also lived up to the preseason pick as the favorite and will host the semifinals and championship final.
Both Ursuline (No. 9) and Trevecca (No. 10) are represented in the Midwest Region rankings as of Oct. 22.
Ursuline’s regular-season run culminated with a 13-4 overall record and an 8-2 mark within the G-MAC. The Arrows flourished against under head coach Jason Kubbins and feature two of the nation’s top scorers in Vanessa Consiglio and Paige Rowan; they will tune up for the postseason against Fairmont State on Oct. 31.
The Arrows are tough at home, winning eight of nine during an early-season stretch in Pepper Pike, Ohio.
UC awaits the winner of No. 5 Cedarville or No. 4 Kentucky Wesleyan, a compelling quarterfinal matchup set for a 3 p.m. (CST) start in Owensboro on Saturday. Both teams have identical overall records at 9-6-1.
A rematch between the Lady Jackets and Panthers is set and making it more intriguing is the fact that both teams squared off against each other this past Saturday. Carla Halvorson scored twice for Cedarville, which continues to ease back reigning G-MAC Player of the Year Jacoby Ziegler from injury.
Ziegler started and appeared on the field for 15 minutes against Kentucky Wesleyan as Hanna Harris made seven saves in the shutout effort. KWC had the upper hand against Cedarville in an Oct. 20 meeting in a 2-1 win as Annie Elder and Katlyn Duke both scored in the first half.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 2 Trevecca earned the first-round bye as a No. 2 seed and beat Ursuline behind a stellar effort in net by keeper Liz Denton, who earned weekly league honors.
Denton and the second-seeded Trojans have confidence rising having already beaten the regular-season champs while waiting for either No. 6 Alderson Broaddus or No. 3 Davis & Elkins to emerge on Saturday.
Trevecca won or tied in 11 of its last 12 games, the only loss a 2-1 final in overtime against Gulf South Conference opponent Christian Brothers. The Trojans polished off the regular-season schedule with a 3-2 win against Lincoln Memorial last night.
Davis & Elkins will host one of the first-round matchups and led by two-time athlete of the week Ashley Winkelspecht, will look to lock down defensively on the Battlers, who beat Salem International and Ohio Valley twice this year while also taking Ursuline into overtime.

VOLLEYBALL
With Cedarville and Ursuline having clinched a berth to the G-MAC Championship, there is plenty on the line for the rest of the league vying for the final four postseason positions.
Senior Hannah Wagner had a huge week for the Lady Jackets as they swept Trevecca and mustered a two-set deficit to rally and stun Kentucky Wesleyan in five sets on Saturday.
Wagner had 20 kills against Kentucky Wesleyan, following up her teammate Tori Thompson as the league’s athlete of the week.
Alderson Broaddus completed the regular-season sweep against Davis & Elkins last night, strengthening its chances for the tournament after splitting a weekend road trip vs. Ohio Valley (loss) and Salem International (win).
With Ursuline currently in second followed by Ohio Valley and Trevecca tied for third in the standings, there is still time for movement as the regular season comes to a close.
OVU held strong on its home court and a strong weekend from Imani Ward propelled the Fighting Scots over Davis & Elkins in five sets and Alderson Broaddus in four sets.
For Ohio Valley, it was the program’s first win against Alderson Broaddus and the trio of Ward, Amanda Weatherwax and Alyx Henry, are a front line force to be reckoned with.
With a win tomorrow, Kentucky Wesleyan could pull into a tie with Trevecca in the standings at 5-3 in the league while OVU faces Salem International and Cedarville hosts Central State.

MEN'S & WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The G-MAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships are also right around the corner in Owensboro with Kentucky Wesleyan serving as host. There figures to be some serious competition for both men’s and women’s runner of the year while a handful of programs will factor into the race for the team titles.
This past week, Cedarville’s men’s and women’s program both won in the Yellow Jackets-hosted Cedarville Open while also representing the top two individual winners.
Despite the absence of Benjamin Tuttle and Clay Watson, Cedarville’s Matthew Pelletier became the latest Yellow Jacket to win an event on the 8,000-meter course.
Pelletier was the league’s choice as athlete of the week while the Yellow Jackets continue to build back to full strength.
Alexandra Archambault paced the Cedarville women for top honors while Jenny Brewer of Alderson Broaddus earned the individual title at the Seaton Invitational on hilly terrain in West Virginia.
Davis & Elkins earned the team titles at the Seaton Invitational, which had four teams in attendance.
