INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has received official approval from the NCAA Division II Membership Committee, recognizing the Conference as an active NCAA Division II conference.
“The G-MAC is appreciative of the decision reached by the NCAA Division II Membership Committee and is fully prepared to enter the first year of active NCAA conference membership in 2013-14,” said Commissioner Tom Daeger. “The admission to active status is the culmination of an educational process that has assisted the membership in its growth and development and an exciting new opportunity to offer enhanced athletic experiences to the tremendous student-athletes participating in our conference.”
Recently the G-MAC officially expanded to ten member institutions and with the recent advancement of Ursuline College into active DII status, the conference consists of eight active NCAA DII institutions.
Active Members include: Alderson Broaddus University (Philippi, WV), Cedarville University (Cedarville, Ohio), Central State University (Wilberforce, Ohio), Davis & Elkins College (Elkins, WV), Kentucky Wesleyan College (Owensboro, KY), Ohio Valley University (Vienna, WV), Salem International University (Salem, WV), and Ursuline College (Pepper Pike, Ohio).

“Following the completion of the league’s first year, the Conference has developed a sound structure and the membership is eager to continue its development as an active conference during the upcoming academic year,” said Daeger. “It is an exciting time to be associated with the G-MAC and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with our members over the last 18 months help build the Conference that was envisioned from the outset…a values-based, academic-focused league that provides a balanced collegiate experience for its student-athletes.”
The G-MAC, which conducted 12 championships in 2012-13 in its inaugural year as an NCAA Division II Member Conference, will host 17 championships in 2013-14. Active status for the conference will be effective on September 1, 2013.
“The G-MAC is committed to the core values established by the Presidents Council and it has been an honor to work for a presidential group that is invested and committed to the success of this league,” said Daeger. “I believe the future to be extremely bright for the G-MAC and the admission to active status is the next step towards our development as a great Division II conference.”
