OLD HICKORY, Tenn. - This past weekend, Trevecca Nazarene University hosted its annual Spring Invitational, which featured ten programs - including the three current G-MAC teams (Cedarville, TNU, and Urbana) that will battle for the first-ever G-MAC title on April 22-23, 2013.

@TNUsports Recap - The Trevecca Nazarene men's golf team lost their first round lead and finished third behind Union University and Tennessee Wesleyan College at the Old Hickory Country Club. Trevecca recorded rounds of 307 and 313 for a two-day total of 620.
 
Sophomore Austin Dillard led the Trojans with a 76-77=153, which was good enough for seventh overall. Aaron Burnett (+12; 78-76=154) finished in a tie for 11th, while Stephen Williams (+14; 76-80=156), Logan Martin (+15; 77-80=157), and Tyler Phillips (+29; 85-86=171) rounded out Trevecca's team scoring. Aaron Gaddis represented Trevecca's lone individual performer. He finished 14th overall at +13 (77-78=155).  

Jorge Benitez of Davenport finished eight-over with identical rounds of 75 for a tournament best 150. Joining him on the all-invitational team were Brett Barry of Union University (+10; 77-75=152),  Josh Wheeler of Tennessee Wesleyan (+10; 74-    78=152),  Kody Alexander of Union University (+10; 74-78=152),  Nate Scheibe of Taylor University (+10 76-76=152), and Alex Cox of Lipscomb University (+10; 77-75=152).  

Union (311-304) defeated TWC (309-306) in a team playoff, both teams finished the tournament with a 615 team score. They were second and their respectively after day one play.

@CUYellowJackets Recap - Jacob Forsythe followed an opening round 76 with a closing 77 in tough scoring conditions to finish tied for seventh place at the Trevecca Nazarene Spring Invitational.

Forsythe's 153 total on the 6,617 yard, par 71 Old Hickory Country Club layout was three strokes shy of medalist honors. Every Yellow Jacket in the line-up lowered his score on day two. The remaining roster included Brandon Spears (88-82-170), Jordan Glick (91-84-175), John Stonkus (95-84-179), and Jacob Nafziger (90-89-179).

Three other CU players were entered as individuals. They were Derek Truninger (88-84-172), Alex Cooley (87-87-174), and Jason Leigh (110-95-205). Cedarville placed ninth as a team at 345-327-672. Union (Tenn.) at 311-304-615 tied with Tennessee Wesleyan (309-306-615) with Union winning a one-hole playoff to claim the trophy.

@UUSports Recap - The Urbana University men's golf team opened their spring season at the Trevecca Spring Invitational battling the elements, which included snow and wind chills in the 20's at the Old Hickory Country Club. Playing outdoors for the first time in 2013, Urbana opened the tournament with a disappointing team score of 353, but the Blue Knights were able to trim 18 strokes off their Monday score to shoot a 335. Overall, Urbana finished in 10th place.

The Blue Knights were led by sophomore Adam Mitchley and junior Kyle England. Mitchley fired a team-low 83 under deplorable conditions on Day 1. His 88 on Day 2 gave him a tournament score of 171. England also arrived at a 171, carding an 89 on Monday and an 82 on Tuesday.

Mike Dague carded the only round in the 70’s for the Blue Knights. The senior shot 79 on Tuesday after carding a career high 97 in the tough conditions on Monday. His overall score of 176 was third on the squad, two strokes better than Vincent Dugan (89-89) and Michael Schmidt (92-86).
