WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE MONTH

Kaylon King
Trevecca Nazarene University - Sophomore
Hartselle, Alabama - Hartselle HS

The 2013-14 fall season has come to a conclusion, and wrapping up the G-MAC’s Women’s Golfer of the Month for October is Kaylon King of Trevecca Nazarene University. The honor, which is given monthly throughout the fall and spring portion of the year long season, was earned last year by King at the exact same point of the season.

In three events in October, King finished first at the Trevecca Invitational, tied for fourth at the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational, and was 14th at the Lady Flames Shootout hosted by Lee University.

At the Trevecca Fall Invitational at the Old Hickory Country Club in Old Hickory, it was the first time the Trojans had won the team title of their own event. Trevecca (322-321) 643 ended the reign of two-time defending champion Cumberland University. Behind King’s 158 (79-79) has he edged out first round leader and teammate Mikayla Dodson by a stroke for the tournament Medalist honors.

At the Chick-Fil-A Collegiate Invitational, TNU finished third overall and King made the all-tournament team after carding the fourth-best score of 152 (76-76) in a field of 185 golfers and 15 total teams.

King wrapped up her month and the fall season with a 13th place finish. She struggled on day one, shooting an 86, but rebounded to shot a tournament-low round of 78 to climb up the leaderboard of 48 total golfers and helping her team finish in fourth place at the Lee University Lady Flames Shootout.
