URSULINE TAKES TITLE; TNU AND CEDARVILLE PLACE WELL
INDIANAPOLIS – (courtesy of @UrsulineArrows, @TNUsports, and @CUYellowJackets) Ursuline's women's golf team turned in a 326 to take the title at the eight-team St. Vincent College Lady Bearcat Invitational on Monday. Meanwhile, the rain had the final say at the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Men's Golf Invitational as the final 27 holes were washed out for Cedarville, who ended up 11th out of 20.
The Trevecca women's golf team opened their season with a third place finish, of six teams, at the Freed-Hardeman University Fall Invitational. The men's golf team, for the first time in the four-year history, were defeated by Union in the Ryder Cup style match Greystone Cup.
The Ursuline Arrows won their event by 13 strokes over NCAA Division II opponents West Virginia Wesleyan, Fairmont State, and Point Park.
In the first collegiate event of her career, Eadaoin Cronin shot a 36-42 to walk away with a 78 and a runner-up finish in the event that included 43 student-athletes. She paced the four scoring Arrows, all of whom finished in the top-eight, including Ashley Rideout and Talia Trovato, who fired identical scores of 41 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine to total an 83 and tie for sixth place.
Cedarville Jacob Nafziger tied for 20th place out of 104 golfers with scores 73-38-111. Opening round co-leader Jacob Forsythe slid back into a tie for 27th at 70-42-112.
Trevecca freshman Marlee Ingham finished ninth overall in her first collegiate event, carding a Trojan best, 84-87 - 171, while fellow freshman Kaylon King was 11th overall after a pair of 87's for a two-day total of 174.
In the Greystone Cup, with play all-square after Tuesday's opening rounds, Union came out on Wednesday and defeated Trevecca 5-1 in the individual head-to-head matches. Trevecca won Tuesday's Best Ball competion 2-1, but Union came back to tie the event after two rounds with a 2-1 advantage in the afternoon Alternate Shot challenge.
MEN'S SOCCER: CEDARVILLE PLAYS TO A TIE AND URBANA PICK UP A WIN
INDIANAPOLIS - (courtesy of @CUYellowJackets and @UUSports) Cedarville and Ohio Dominican, two of the top men's soccer teams in the region, went toe-to-toe for 110 minutes on the Panthers' home turf with the end result a 0-0 deadlock. As for Urbana, the Blue Knights picked up their fourth win of the season on Wednesday afternoon at Ohio Valley University, as they raced out to a 3-0 lead and held on for the 3-1 win over the Fighting Scots.
Tyler Wason scored his 7th goal in as many games to put the Blue Knights on top 1-0 in the 11th minute. Less than ten minutes later, Yves Nzwanga put the visitors up 2-0 on an assist from Carl Peers. The lead extended to 3-0 before the first half ended on Joey Thouvenot's first collegiate goal in the 37th minute. Wason tallied his team-leading third assist on the goal.
Urbana goalkeeper Darragh McGinley left with a 3-0 lead in the 84th minute. The Scots scored their only goal with 51 seconds left on the clock. Before exiting the game, McGinley added 3 saves to his season total. He currently leads Division II with 47 saves.
Cedarville, 7-0-1 overall, entered the contest No. 5 in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Region poll. ODU, 3-2-1, is No. 10. Both sides had respectable opportunities as they matched one another with five shots on goal. CU had the advantage in shots overall at 19-11. Each team was whistled for 10 fouls and no cards were shown.
WOMEN'S SOCCER: URBANA, CEDARVILLE, AND URSULINE ALL EARN VICTORIES

goal in the 81st minute was the games lone score as the Lady Jackets came away with a 1-0 non-conference victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene. Ursuline's Tara White's goal just before the half was the only score of the game and gave the host Arrows a 1-0 win over Tiffin University.
White's goal came on a ball from sophomore Anna Feitl and was her first tally of the season. The Arrows dominated the first half and sent eight shots toward Tiffin goalkeeper Lindsey Gallagher. Tiffin outshot the Arrows 8-3 in the second half, but senior Rachael Smith made every stop to pick up her second shutout of the season.
As for the Yellow Jackets, Jacoby's older sister, Morgan Ziegler
, outworked the Cougar defense and ripped a low 20-yard shot just inside the far post for her third tally of the campaign. Alysia Bennett made two saves in goal and recorded the team's first shutout of the season.

For Urbana, the game remained scoreless until the 61st minute when senior Abby Pearson's pass found Hanna Abdalla broke the scoreless tie with her first goal of the season. Pearson added an insurance goal 18 minutes later on her second penalty kick goal of the season. Senior goalkeeper Meghan Taucher had a pair of saves in her second-straight shutout.
WOMEN'S TENNIS: CEDARVILLE EARNS A SLIM 5-4 WIN
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - (courtesy of @CUYellowJackets) Cedarville rallied to pull out two points in doubles and the bottom of the line-up in singles carried the Lady Jackets to a 5-4 win over Otterbein. The visiting Cardinals jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles.
Cedarville's #2 tandem won the final three games for a 9-7 decision, while the #3 duo bounced back to win a tiebreaker, 7-2, and take the match, 9-8. The two reversals in doubles meant the Jackets needed to just split the singles. They nailed down wins in straight sets at the bottom three spots. The singles winners were Maryssa Herbert, 6-3, 6-3; Lyndsay Stine, 6-3, 6-3; and Chelsea Diamond, 6-3, 6-2.
VOLLEYBALL: DIFFICULT WEEK LEAVES G-MAC TEAMS 2-3 IN MID-WEEK ACTION
INDIANAPOLIS – (courtesy of @TNUsports, @UrsulineArrows, @Central State, @ CUYellowJackets, and @UUSports) The Trevecca volleyball team defeated previously undefeated Oakland City University in five sets on Tuesday night. Cedarville hit the road for its first-ever Great Midwest Athletic Conference contest and was impressive in a three-set victory at Urbana. The Ursuline Arrows pushed Mercyhurst University to four sets but lost the match to the visiting Lakers on Tuesday night. Central State dropped its third match of the season, 3-0, to visiting Wilmington College.
TNU downed the Mighty Oaks 25-22, 25-27, 27-29, 26-24, 15-9. Not only did the match go five sets, but it required extra points in three of the five sets. Just one of the first four sets were decided by more than two points and that one, the first set, was decided by three points.
Jenna Robertson led the way with 14 kills and three service aces while adding five block assists. Amy Bottomlee had an all-around game with 11 kills, 17 digs, 23 assistss, and two service aces. Shelby Sorce added 12 kills and 13 digs. Kristen Johnson had a team-high 33 assists and seven block assists while adding a solo block. Persephonie Devereaux had 10 kills and five block assists. Loren Bennett led the team with 29 digs.
Cedarville took the match 25-17, 25-17, 25-14 and improved to 12-1 overall. Hannah Wagner controlled the net with 11 kills and three blocks. Tori Thompson contributed 10 kills and two blocks Maddie Anderson handed out 25 assists with a pair of service aces.
As for the Arrows, Mercyhurst took the first set 25-20 before Ursuline bounced back with a 26-24 victory to even things up. Mercyhurst won the final two sets, 25-17 and 25-16, to clinch the match. Juniors Alex Leister and Maureen Kelly both had eight digs while Ashley Reinhart dished out 21 assists and Kelly Stenger was credited with 20 digs.
