BEAVERCREEK, Ohio - The wind was the big winner this week at the 31st Annual Cedarville University Men's Golf Invitational.  Wind chills in the mid-30's and wind gusts over 40 mph wreaked havoc on the field of about 40 golfers.

Especially on Day 1 at the Beavercreek Golf Club, where only 1 golfer managed to break 80 under the chaotic conditions. Tuesday's wind continued to cause problems, but at least the temperatures improved at the Country Club of the North as 5 golfers managed to shoot in the 70's.

The Blue Knight men's golf team made a big leap on Day 2.  Behind freshman Dylan Anderson's team-low 86, the Blue Knights trimmed 17 strokes off their Day 1 total to leapfrog Cincinnati Christian for 6th place in a field of 7 teams.  The victory was the third of the spring season for Urbana.  Otterbein College also used a Day 2 surge to nip their hosts from Cedarville for the overall team title.

Senior Ross O'Neal had the best 2-day total for the Blue Knights, carding scores of 86 and 88 in the 2-day tournament.  O'Neal's scores were more than 12 strokes higher than his season average entering the tournament, showing just how much impact the wind had on individual scores.

Freshman VIncent Dugan powered through the wind to post a pair of 92's, and junior Ryan George also managed some consistency with a pair of 96's.  Freshman Michael Schmidt showed the most improvement from Monday to Tuesday, carding an even 100 at Beavercreek and a 91 at Country Club of the North.  Freshman Ross Brandon shot a 93 on Day 1 in Anderson's absence.

Urbana wraps up its spring season on May 7th and 8th at the D-II Ohio Independent Championships.  The Blue Knights hope to improve upon the women's 3rd place finish at the event.
