HOWARD, Ohio - The Urbana University men's golf team put the finishing touches on the 2011-12 Blue Knight athletic year at the D-II Ohio Independents' Championship on Monday and Tuesday.  Urbana finished fourth amongst the five D-II Ohio Independents.

Malone won the championship with an impressive team score of 573.  The Pioneers had 4 of the top 5 individual scores.  Second place Cedarville was the only other team to land a golfer in the top 5.  The Yellow Jackets fired a 611 and were followed by Walsh (627) and Urbana (642).

Notre Dame College did not have enough golfers to qualify for a team score. As they have been all spring, the Blue Knights were once again led by senior Ross O'Neal.  O'Neal turned in strong rounds of 79 and 75 to finish in the Top 10 as an individual.  Freshman Vince Dugan carded his collegiate personal best with a first day 76.

The round of 4-over was 2 strokes better than his previous best.  He followed that performance with an 82 on Day 2 to finish 2nd on the squad for the 4th consecutive tournament this spring.  Rounding out the Blue Knights' scores were freshmen Dylan Anderson (82-83), Michael Schmidt (81-84), and Ross Brandon (93-94).  Schmidt tied his personal collegiate best for low round and lowest 2-day total.

The OIC men's golf tournament was the final Blue Knight athletic event of the school year.  Urbana finished their spring season with 3 wins.
