INDIANAPOLIS – Great Midwest Athletic Conference Commissioner Tom Daeger has announced the appointment of Angela Tressel as the Conference’s first Assistant Commissioner for Compliance. The experienced administrator will join the G-MAC on July 9, 2012 after spending the previous four years as Assistant Commissioner at Conference Carolinas, a fellow NCAA Division II member conference.

Tressel, a native of the Southwest Chicago suburbs, will develop and oversee the G-MAC compliance program, assist conference members with NCAA and G-MAC regulations, assist with the G-MAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, serve as the Senior Woman Administrator and provide support to championship events.

“The G-MAC is excited to bring Angela aboard to assist in our continued development and growth,” said Daeger. “She has vast experience in NCAA Division II compliance and benefited from many years in a similar role working under Conference Carolinas’ Commissioner Dr. Alan Patterson.”

“Our membership will benefit greatly from her interpretative knowledge and Angela’s vision and enthusiasm for our budding league shined through during the search process.”
During her time with Conference Carolinas, Tressel served 12 member institutions on all aspects of NCAA and conference rules compliance, served as the liaison to the SAAC, designed and implemented the league’s first female empowerment summit, developed a game environment policy handbook and organized the league’s promotional and awards program among other responsibilities.
An active member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) and the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC), Tressel completed the NACWAA Institute for Administrative Advancement in 2010 and has served on numerous NCAA committees. She is a member of the Women’s Volleyball Southeast Regional Advisory Committee and has recently served as the NCAA site representative at the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Southeast Regional and NCAA Division II Lacrosse Championships. Tressel served as a facilitator at the 2011 NCAA Leadership Forum and has been an active member of the NCAA Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association of Compliance Administrators (CCACA).

Tressel, who served as a teacher and assistant softball coach for three years at North Davidson High School (NC) prior to joining the staff at Conference Carolinas, is a 2005 graduate of Bradley University where she competed on the softball team. She earned a master’s degree in Sport Studies from High Point University in 2008.
