For the second time, Cedarville University sophomore Jacob Forsythe has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Month for men’s golf. After earning the first-ever honor last month, Forsythe improved upon his own performance in October to establish a new mark for the conference to take aim.
Forsythe led the Cedarville Yellow Jackets against the top talent in the Great Lakes Regional, and as the team they finished 19th. Individually Forsythe finished in a tie for third place with an impressive two-day total of 144. His two day total was the lowest of the fall schedule in the G-MAC. His rounds of 71 and 73 also rank second and third in regards to individual 18-hole performances in the conference, sitting behind his own top performance of 70, which earned him Golfer of the Month in September.
With the fall schedule now complete, in two months of action Forsythe now ranks first (70), second (71), and in a three-way tie for third (73) for individual 18-hole performances. He ranks first (144), fifth (150), and in a tie for eighth (152) for his performances in two-day, 36-hole tournaments.
-------
Men’s and Women’s Golf name an Athlete of the Month, rather than Athlete of the Week due to the fact that the NCAA golf season covers both the fall and spring semesters. The randomness of a specific golf schedule also does not adapt itself well to a weekly award since there are weeks in which a team may not play and tournaments are not restricted to weekends only. Winners will be announced following the months of September, October, March, and April.
