NASHVILLE, Tenn. - (courtesy of @TNUsports) - Both the men and women golf programs competed over the last two days - with the women claiming fourth as they hosted the Nationwide Invitational, and the men finishing 11th at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Tournament.
Both teams posted low team scores, as well as some low individual rounds. Read the women's recap below, followed by a summary of the men's performance.
TNU WOMEN
OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene finished in fourth place at the 2012 Trevecca Nationwide Invitational at the Old Hickory Country Club shooting a two-round total of 685 (+109). The Trojans were led by Kaylon King (81-75) who finished in second place shooting a 156 (+12).
Cumberland University won the Invitational shooting a total of 642 (+66). CU's Katie Legge (77-78) won medalist honors after she posted an Invitational-best 155 (+11).
Lindenwood University moved up three spots to finish in second place with a score of 673 (+97) while Marian University placed third with a total of 682 (+106).
Trevecca's Marlee Ingham finished in 11th place as she went from shooting an 87 in round one to an 80 in the final round. Madison Campbell (87-84), playing as an individual scorer, finished in a tie for 18th shooting a 171 (+27). Alexandria Qualls (87-93) completed the Invitational in a tie for 34th shooting a 180 (+36). Ashley Randolph (94-91) and Maddie Privott (95-90) rounded out Trevecca's scorers both finishing in a tie for 37th while each shooting a 185 (+41).
The Trojans just missed qualifying for the NCCAA National Championships (Oct. 22-23) in Panama City, Fla., and will return to action next March (5-6) at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational in Georgia.
TNU MEN
ROME, Ga. – The Trevecca men's golf team moved up to 11th in a field of 25 teams in the final round at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Tuesday. TNU freshman
Logan Martin produced a pair of 74's for a 148 two-day total.
The event was hosted by Berry College with each team playing a round at the Coosa Country Club and the Stonebridge Golf Club on alternating days. The course played to a par of 72 over 6998 yards. There were 25 teams and 135 individuals participating.
After a soft front nine on Tuesday, the team combined to shoot two-under on the back nine. The result was a move to 11th overall with a 308-302 = 610. Coastal Georgia had the low team score of 578.
Logan Martin finished 21st overall in the 135 member field. His four-over par score was three strokes better than fellow freshman
Aaron Burnett who recorded a 77-74 = 151.
Tyler Phillips finished three strokes back of Burnett with a 80-74 = 154.
Stephen Williams carded a 77-80 = 157, yes three strokes back of Phillips. The final Trojan competitor,
Austin Dillard, turned in an 80-87 = 167.

Robbie Wilson produce lower scores, but is still hoping for a more consistent performance. Wilson commented, "We are still waiting to put together a complete round. The guys are playing well for spurts but in order to be successful out here we need to start and finish rounds."
Trevecca heads to the NCCAA Championships in Panama City Beach, Fla. where they will compete for the championship for a second year in a row. The tournament runs October 22-25 at the Hombre Golf Club.
