Findlay, Ohio - The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) released this week's Division II National Coaches Poll following Week 1 action. The University of Findlay football team jumped five spots to No. 10 nationally after going on the road and defeating No. 9 University of Indianapolis 30-10.
The Oilers opened their season on Saturday, September 5, securing a statement victory over the Greyhounds. With the win, Findlay moves to 1-0 and breaks into the national top ten, while UIndy drops to No. 17. Findlay will look to build on its early momentum when it hosts Fairmont State on Saturday, September 12.
This ranking marks the third time in program history that the Oilers have cracked the top-ten in the AFCA poll. The previous two came at the end of last season when Findlay reached as high as eighth in the country.
UF is one of two teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) to appear in this week's rankings. Ashland, which was defeated at home by IUP this past weekend, dropped to No. 19.
