Baseball
North Division
Pitcher:
Tyler Sager / Northwood University/ Sr. / Pitcher / Chesaning, Mich.
Tyler Sager earned the win for Northwood in a 3-1 victory over Minnesota-Crookston. The senior right-hander tossed seven strong innings, allowing zero earned runs on five hits. After giving up three hits early, Sager settled in and allowed just two hits across his final six innings of work to secure the victory.
Player:
Caden Duryea / Northwood University/ Sr. / Outfield / White Lake, Mich.
Caden Duryea delivered one of the most remarkable offensive performances in G-MAC history. In two games, Duryea hit .625 with three home runs, six RBIs, two doubles, and six runs scored, compiling a 2.000 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage. In a historic performance against Roosevelt, Duryea went 4-for-4 with three home runs, a double, a walk, five runs scored, and six RBIs. His 14 total bases tied the G-MAC single-game record.
South Division
Pitcher:
Evan Oakley / Kentucky Wesleyan College / Sr. / Pitcher / Gilbertsville, Ky.
Evan Oakley went 8.0 innings and allowed one run with 10 strikeouts in the Panther’s 2-1 win against Purdue Northwest. Oakley has totaled 29 strikeouts in 21.0 innings pitched and allowed just two runs.
Player:
Jack Geers / Thomas More University / Fr. / Shortstop / Harrison, Ohio
Jack Geers had a standout weekend at the plate, going 6-for-15 with nine RBIs, three home runs, a triple, and five runs scored.
Men’s Basketball
Brayden Gross / Walsh University / Fr. / Forward / Louisville, Ohio
Brayden Gross helped Walsh secure the regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament with two wins last week. Gross recorded double-doubles in both games while shooting 66.7 percent (10-for-15) from the field. He posted 17 points and 13 rebounds against Ashland, followed by 16 points and 12 rebounds against Malone.
Women’s Basketball
Maeve St. John / Northwood University/ Sr./ Guard / Howell, Mich.
Maeve St. John guided Northwood to two wins, averaging 17.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. She opened the week with 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists against Tiffin. In a road win at Hillsdale, St. John narrowly missed a triple-double, finishing with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists.
Women’s Bowling
Giovanna Radilovic / Ursuline College/ Sr.
Radilovic led the Arrows at the Hoosier Classic with a total of 761 and a tournament average of 152.2.
Men’s Bowling
Jack Furman/ Walsh University/ So./ Jefferson, Ohio
Walsh’s Jack Furman and the Cavaliers competed at the AHBA Collegiate and Hoosier Classic during the month of February. At the AHBA Collegiate, Furman posted an average of 209, including a game-high 240. He went on to average 208 at the Hoosier Classic with a game-high of 235 at the event.
Men’s Lacrosse
Defensive:
Will Cody / Seton Hill University/ Sr. /Goalkeeper/ Pottstown, Pa.
Will Cody anchored the Griffins to a 10-9 road win at UIndy. Cody recorded a career-high 19 saves and added a ground ball in the one-goal victory.
Offensive:
Charlie Fritz / Davenport University/ Jr. / Attack/ Holly, Mich.
Charlie Fritz led the Panthers to a 17-10 victory over Wheeling, recording a team-high seven points. Fritz scored four goals and added three assists in the win.
Women’s Lacrosse
Defensive:
Sydney Atkinson / Malone University/ So. /Goalkeeper/ Chardon, Ohio
Malone Pioneer Sydney Atkinson made 13 saves in the midst of a 14-8 victory over Point Park with a .619 save percentage.
Offensive:
Alana Samek / Malone University/ So. / Attack/ Irwin, Pa.
Malone Pioneer Alana Samek tallied nine points on four goals and five assists with two GBs, two DCs, and one CT. She tied the single-game program record for most points in a game.
Softball
Pitcher:
Alexys Antal / University of Findlay / Sr. / Pitcher / Topeka, Ind.
Oiler Alexys Antal aided in the team beginning their spring break trip going 2-0. Antal led the charge as she pitched against St. Cloud State throwing 6.1 innings without allowing a run and giving up just three hits.
Player:
Meghan Heinsman / University of Findlay / So. / Catcher / Lawrenceburg, Ind.
Oiler Meghan Heinsman led the Oilers as she walked away with four hits in five-at-bats including a double and two RBIs. She also had a walk and a stolen base.
STUNT
Abby Rossow / Davenport University/ Jr. / Shelby Township, Mich.
Davenport Panther Abby Rossow led the Panthers to a 31-8 victory over the Ashland Eagles with 90 points.
Men’s Tennis
Andrey Pikulin / Northwood University/ Fr. / Moscow, Russia
Andrey Pikulin went 2-0 as Northwood earned a 6-1 regional victory over Purdue Northwest. Pikulin secured a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles and teamed with Finn Buschmaas for a 7-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Women’s Tennis
Danijela Danilovic / Northwood University / Sr. / Subotica, Serbia
Danijela Danilovic went 4-0 while leading Northwood to regional wins over Saginaw Valley and Purdue Northwest. She claimed both of her No. 2 singles matches in straight sets and partnered with Brigitte Gomez to win both No. 3 doubles matches.
