PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Lake Erie College Athletics has announced the hiring of
Shaine Carpenter as the new head coach of the Storm baseball program. He becomes the eighth head coach in program history.
"We are thrilled to welcome
Shaine Carpenter as our new head baseball coach," said
Molly Hoffman, Executive Director of Athletics. "His experience and passion for the game make him the perfect fit for our program. Shaine's commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the field aligns with the mission and vision of Storm Athletics."
Carpenter comes to Lake Erie after serving as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Division III Washington College. Prior to his stop there, he served as the assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at the University of Bridgeport for two seasons. He acted as the hitting coach and worked with the catchers and outfielders on the defensive side of the ball. Carpenter also played an integral role in the day-to-day operations such as practice planning and fundraising for the program. During the 2019 and 2020 seasons, Carpenter was an assistant coach at Emmanuel College. He performed as the catching coach and was also the Junior Varsity Head Coach.
"I am incredibly honored and humbled to be named the next Head Baseball Coach at Lake Erie College," said Carpenter. "I am grateful for Director of Athletics Molly Hoffman, President Schuller, and the entire Lake Erie College community for presenting this opportunity to my family. We couldn't be more excited to join the Storm family and the community surrounding Lake Erie. I am excited for this next chapter and look forward to getting to work with our players, alumni, and supporters as we continue to further Lake Erie College Baseball. #RageOn."
Carpenter was a three-year varsity letter winner at Saint Anselm College in the Northeast-10 Conference (DII) and played one season at Mercy College (Dobbs Ferry, NY) in the East Coast Conference (DII).
Carpenter earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Mercy College in 2018 after attending Saint Anselm College for three years. He went on to earn a Master of Sports Administration (Coaching Theories and Strategies) from Petrocelli College in May of 2020.
