G-MAC Collects Nine Wins on Day 1 of Midwest Region Crossover

HAMMOND,Ind- The Great Midwest Athletic Conference managed a total of nine victories combined as a league in the Midwest Region Crossover Volleyball Tournament at the Hammond Sportsplex.
 
Findlay and Ohio Dominican highlighted the day, each posting a perfect 2-0 mark. Both teams enter tomorrow as the highest-ranking teams in the conference.
 
The Oilers entered the tournament as the highest-rated G-MAC team. They started the day with a 3-0 sweep over GLIAC opponent Northern Michigan. Makenna Belcher and Lauren Foerster each posted 11 kills apiece. Emma White led the match in assists (35) and digs (9). Findlay went on to battle the University of Indianapolis in a 3-2 victory. In the thrilling win, the Oilers finished with a .222 hitting percentage, while totaling 61 kills on 153 attempts. Makenna Belcher once again led the way for the Oilers, registering 17 kills while hitting .227. Findlay is set to face Rockhurst tomorrow at 3 P.M. ET.
 
Ohio Dominican, the top team in the South Division, collected two wins over Quincy and Michigan Tech to extend their win streak to eight. ODU defeated Quincy in straight sets, hitting an impressive .229. Logan Rubel fueled the offense with 11 kills, while Jenna Peters added nine as well as 12 digs. The Panthers went wire-to-wire with Michigan Tech later in the day to secure their eight straight win. Grace Zinchuk paced Ohio Dominican with 19 kills and five blocks at the net. The Panthers will play UIndy tomorrow at 3 P.M. ET.
 
Both Northwood and Tiffin added to the win total with a pair of wins each. The Timberwolves defeated both McKendree and Parkside in Friday’s matches. The Dragons won in straight sets over Upper Iowa and Saginaw Valley.
