INDIANAPOLIS - The stage is set for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship semifinals as four teams emerged winners from Tuesday night’s quarterfinal matchups.
No. 1 Cedarville, 2 Kentucky Wesleyan, No. 5 Tiffin and No. 6 Findlay, will continue on to the semifinals in the Final Four set to be held at Cedarville on Friday. The championship game will follow Saturday, also held at Cedarville.
Friday’s semifinals feature Cedarville vs. Tiffin at 5:00 p.m. ET and Findlay vs. Kentucky Wesleyan to follow at 7:30 p.m. ET in the Callan Athletic Center. The winners of Friday’s games will play for the conference championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Atlantic Regional.
The No. 1 seed and regular season champion, Cedarville, beat No. 8 Malone, 76-54. Isabelle Bolender lead the Yellow Jackets with 17 points and seven rebounds.
No. 2 KWC rolled past No. 7 Trevecca 76-54. The Panthers balanced scoring helped them to the victory as four players scored in double figures, lead by Jordan Barga’s 15-point eight rebound performance.
After trailing by double-digits in the first half, No. 6 Findlay came back to upset No. 3 Walsh, 63-58. Sydney Kin erupted for 28 points, 17 of which came in the second-half comeback.
The No. 4 vs No. 5 matchup went down to the wire as Tiffin won on a buzzer beater tip-in from Kirsten Williams, 54-53. Aarion Nichols led the way for the Dragons with a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double.
The all-conference team will be announced Thursday afternoon. All remaining conference tournament games will be streamed on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
