There's few accomplishments Allison Kuzma hasn't already achieved during a decorated career at Hillsdale College.

On Monday, however, Kuzma earned a special first from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The USTFCCCA named Kuzma its NCAA DII Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, honoring Kuzma for an impressive first race at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational on Friday, Sept. 12. It's the third time in the history of the award that a Charger has been honored, and Kuzma is the second Hillsdale athlete along with Emily Oren, who was recognized in both 2014 and 2015. In addition to USTFCCCA honors, Kuzma also was named the G-MAC's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

Kuzma ran an excellent race at the Spartan Invite, beating a field that included seven NCAA DI schools and top runners from Big Ten programs Michigan State, the University of Michigan, and The Ohio State University. In a two-runner duel with MSU's Taylor Pangburn past the halfway point in the race, Kuzma opened up a lead with 2,000 meters to go and pulled away for a 9.4 second victory. It's the seventh straight race win for the junior from Zeeland, Michigan in a streak that includes the entire 2026 outdoor track and field season and dates back to March of this year.

A four-time All-American who won the NCAA DII Indoor national title in the 5,000m run and the outdoor national crown in the 10,000m run, Kuzma is gunning to add a cross country championship to that list the fall, after earning All-American honors with a 13th place finish at the 2025 NCAA DII Cross Country Championships last November. She'll be a top contender given her strong performances in track and field and the form she's already shown this season.

Hillsdale next travels to Tiffin for the G-MAC Preview Meet on Sept. 25, getting a chance to compete on the course that will host the G-MAC Championship meet in early November.
