INDIANAPOLIS—Eight institutions were represented on the Great Midwest Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference team, which was released Wednesday afternoon.
The all-conference teams and individual award winners featuring both first and second teams were selected by the league’s coaches.
Regular season champion Seton Hill claimed two individual awards under head coach Brian Novotny. The Griffins hold an overall record of 14-2 (10-0 conference) and are ranked sixth in the latest NCAA Division II Regional Rankings. In total, ten student-athletes earned first or second-team all-conference honors. Seton Hill’s Will Cody was voted Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a 6.60 goals-against average. Cody is also averaging 10.00 saves per game with a .645 save percentage. Joining him as an individual award winner is freshman teammate Dexter Hannigan, who earned G-MAC Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 2.50 goals per game and playing a key role in the Griffins’ success. Seton Hill also received the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Sportsmanship Award. The Griffins earned the top seed in the G-MAC Championship and are set to face No. 4 Walsh in the semifinals after receiving a first-round bye.
Northwood’s Jacob Fredal was named G-MAC Coach of the Year after leading the Timberwolves to an 11-3 record and the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. Andrew Rogers earned Offensive Player of the Year honors, averaging 3.14 goals and 5.50 points per game. The Michigan native also led the league in assists per game (2.36) and shots per game (10.50). Northwood placed three players on the first team: Rogers, Drew Lockwood, and Ryder Mulvey.
Davenport was also among the teams with individual award winners. Junior Tyler Burd was named Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 1.73 caused turnovers per game across 15 contests. Burd also collected 47 ground balls, helping lead Davenport to a 10-6 season. Senior Logan Flaherty earned Specialist of the Year honors after leading the league with 10.94 ground balls per game. Davenport had seven student-athletes earn first or second-team all-conference recognition.
Semifinals are set to begin this evening, with No. 1 Seton Hill hosting No. 4 Walsh and No. 2 Northwood facing No. 3 Davenport.
