Choi Wins Player of the Year for Second Straight Season

OWENSBORO,Ky.- As six postseason team qualifiers  make their way down to Kentucky, the G-MAC all-conference teams were announced for women’s tennis Thursday afternoon.
 
Sixteen individuals, as voted on by the league’s coaches, were recognized on the all-conference list for their work on the court during the 2025-26 season.
 
Eight student-athletes were named to the first team, followed by eight more on the second team. Individual honors include, player, freshman, and coach of the year in addition to the league’s Elite 26 award.
 
For the second year in a row, Tiffin’s Jem Choi was voted the Player of the Year. Choi recorded a perfect 9-0 mark at No. 1 singles, while posting an overall record of 18-2. The Wrexham, UK native also competed at No. 1 doubles, where she went 12-7 overall. Choi was a first-team selection in addition to teammate Francesca Milani as the Dragons earned the No. 3 seed in the conference championship tournament.
 
Coaches voted Findlay’s Maria Batinic as the top freshman in the league, after leading the Oilers to another regular season title and the No. 1 seed. The Shelby, Michigan native went 20-5, competing primarily at No. 2 singles. Batinic recorded 20-3 in doubles and did not lose any conference matches during the regular season. Batinic is joined by Anamarija Kovacevic as first-team selections for the Oilers. Kovacevic was ranked as high as No. 2 in the country during the regular season for singles. She is currently ranked No. 12 in doubles with a 25-5 overall record. Westmeyer and the Oilers earned a first-round bye in the conference championship and are ranked No. 2 in the most recent regional rankings. Findlay are set to face the winner of Findlay and Walsh.
 
Northwood earned the No. 2 seed as Savannah Matuszewski and Giada Campa earned first-team honors. Matuszewski went 6-2 in singles at the 1 position, while Campa finished the regular season at 8-1 in No. 3 singles.The Timberwolves earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of Tiffin and Cedarville.
 
Hillsdale is led by Ane Dannhauser, who was voted to the first team after posting a singles record of 7-2. Dannhauser tabbed her 100th career win earlier this season and consistently ranks in the top 50 of single and national ITA rankings.
 
Rounding out first-team selections is Walsh’s Lina Starke. Starke had an overall singles record of 5-2, while recording a doubles record of 8-1. Starke and the Cavaliers are slotted at No. 5.
 
Ashland rounds out postseason teams as the No. 6 seed after missing the postseason last year.
