NEWPORT, Ky. – The Walsh Cavaliers women’s bowling team officially claimed their third consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship, cementing themselves as the last G-MAC program standing at the 2026 Conference Carolinas/G-MAC Bowling Championships.
Securing the elusive three-peat, the Cavaliers put on a spectacular showcase of resilience and clutch performances over the two-day event, navigating a grueling bracket to advance all the way to the tournament semifinals.
Walsh’s championship journey began on Friday during the qualifying rounds, where the team knocked down 2,339 total pins to secure the #4 seed. They immediately made their presence felt in the opening round of Baker match play, squaring off against #3 seed and fellow G-MAC rival Ursuline. In what would become the closest matchup of Friday's slate, Walsh rallied from an early deficit to force a decisive seventh game, ultimately edging out the Arrows 4-3 to advance in the winner’s bracket.
On Saturday, the Cavaliers faced a gauntlet. After battling #2 seed Emmanuel in a hard-fought six-game series (falling 4-2), Walsh dropped into the elimination bracket with their tournament lives on the line. Unfazed, the Cavaliers bounced back with a dominant 4-1 victory over #5 Thomas More (145-168, 169-134, 189-157, 185-154, 149-114).
The victory propelled Walsh into the tournament semifinals against top-seeded Belmont Abbey. While the Cavaliers battled fiercely, taking game two 184-219, they ultimately bowed out in five games (4-1).
Despite falling just short of Sunday's overall tournament Mega-Match, Walsh's thrilling Game 7 victory on Friday and their deep Saturday run secured their spot at the top of the G-MAC standings, earning them their third straight conference crown to close out an incredible weekend on the lanes.
