Owensboro, Ky. – The Kentucky Wesleyan baseball team stepped up to the plate to give back to the community, volunteering at the Special Olympics Kentucky State Softball Tournament at Jack C. Fisher Park last weekend.

The team, split up across three days, helped set up, complete scorebooks, announce lineups, give out awards, and clean up while positively interacting with athletes throughout the event.

"It's special for our guys and it's needed. It's an event where our guys can go in and help athletes that are doing the same thing on the field that our guys do," head baseball coach Todd Lillpop said. "It's special for them to be able to work with the kids and see what it means to those kids and how much it means to them. Hopefully, we can implement that experience into our season and let that inspiration drive us to success."

Being part of the Owensboro community means more than just game days, and Kentucky Wesleyan Athletics is always proud to give back.
