NORTH CANTON, OH: Former Walsh Baseball standout, Brodey Acres, signed with the San Francisco Giants, a Major League Baseball franchise. Acres, a four year starter and most recently the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year, is the first Walsh Baseball player to sign with an MLB team. 

"Walsh University and the baseball program mean so much to me. Thank you to my parents, teammates, and everyone at the University for being so encouraging and supportive through my four years as a Cavalier and for the support as I sign with the Giants. I am grateful to the San Francisco Giants organization for this opportunity," said Acres. 

While wearing the Maroon and Gold, Brodey made quite the impact while playing third base and short stop for the Cavs. His name is etched in the record books 8 times with 6 solo records. 

His total Walsh resume includes G-MAC Player of the Year, Second Team All-Region by the ABCA and D2CCA, 2x All-Conference First Team, and 1x All-Conference Second Team. He hit .348 in his career totaling 264 hits, 62 doubles, 9 triples, 19 home runs, and 48 stolen bases. Defensively, he had a .930 fielding percentage including a .976 fielding percentage in the 2026 season.

He is a great learner as he is able to adapt to higher levels of competition. Brodey was a phenomenal leader and competitor for us and I am ecstatic for him and his family to get the opportunity to play at the next level!"
