Great Midwest Announced Women's Lacrosse Awards

ASHLAND, Ohio- Seven participating institution was represented on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference team, released Thursday afternoon.
 
The coaches voted for the all-conference team and individual award winners, which include a first and second team.
 
Conference tournament top seed and regular season champions Ashland won six of the seven individual awards after posting a perfect conference record of 8-0.
 
At the helm of Ashland’s success is 2025 Coach of the Year Lauren Simko. Simko led the Eagles to their first regular season title in program history in her fourth year as head coach. Simko landed seven student-athletes on the all-conference team, including the attacker, midfielder, freshman, and attacker of the year. Ashley Fisher was voted the Attacker of the Year after averaging 3.18 goals per game. The Sunbury, Ohio native leads the league in points (101) and assists (47) and earned Athlete of the Week honors four times this season. Freshman Tori Wanat garnered Freshman and Midfielder of the Year. During her rookie season, Wanat ranked on the team in points and second in goals, while leading the Eagles in draw controls with 122 this season. Her 122 draw controls ranks second in the league. Annie Duncan was voted by coaches as the top goalkeeper this season. Duncan, a junior from New Albany, Ohio, appeared in 17 games during the regular season, posting a goals-against average of 10.68. She totaled 105 saves in the net with a .439 save percentage.
 
Shannon Smith of Lake Erie was voted Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league in ground balls with 80 this season. Smith also averaged 2.24 caused turnovers a game, which ranks fourth in the conference.
 
The Elite 26 Award Winner for academic excellence is Ashland’s Ashley Drexler. Drexler is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science.
