Seton Hill Student-Athletes Headline Men's Lacrosse Awards

INDIANAPOLIS—Seven institutions were represented on the Great Midwest Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference team that was released Wednesday afternoon.
 
The coaches voted for the all-conference team and individual award winners, which included a first and second team.
 
Regular season champion Seton Hill claimed five individual awards under the Coach of the Year Brian Novotny. Novotny led the Griffins to a perfect 9-0 conference mark. Seton Hill holds an overall record of 15-1 and are ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Division II Regional Rankings. In total, twelve student-athletes claimed spots on either first or second team all-conference.
 
Seton Hill’s Braedan Lockyer was voted the Offensive player of the Year after leading the league in goals with 45 so far this season. Lockyer ranks third in points per game (4.83) and assists per game (2.00). Joining Lockyer as individual award winners are Charlie Hudson, Mark Strunk, and Will Cody. Hudson leads a defense that holds a goals-against average of 5.32, the lowest scoring defense in DII. He leads the team in ground balls (26) and is tied in caused turnovers with 17 this season. Goalkeeper Will Cody is the anchor of the Griffin defense with a conference-high .622 save percentage. Cody registered a goals-against average of 5.19 through 16 games. Cody’s 5.19 GAA ranks second in all of D2. Coaches voted Mark Strunk Specialist of the Year after registering a faceoff percentage of .778. His .778 win percentage ranks as the best in Division II to date. The Griffins earned the top seed in the G-MAC Championship and are set to face No. 4 Wheeling.
 
Northwood’s Drew Lockwood earned Freshman of the Year honors after a dominant rookie season. Lockwood appeared in all 14 games for first-year program Northwood. He totaled 24 goals this season and 23 assists for 47 points. The Hartland, Michigan native also picked up 34 ground balls and caused two turnovers. Also from Northwood is the Elite 26 Award Winner in Logan Wilmot. Wilmot, a sophomore from Oxford, Michigan, is studying Aftermarket Management.
 
Semifinals are set to begin this evening as No. 1 Seton Hill hosts No. 4 Wheeling and No. 2 Lake Erie faces No. 3 Walsh.
