Cavaliers Win Seventh Men's Cross Country Title

MIDLAND, Mich.- The depth of Walsh’s program was showcased Saturday afternoon as the Cavaliers earned their seventh men’s cross country championship title.
 
The Cavaliers placed four student-athletes in the top 10 with a team time of 2:03.39. Leading the way for Walsh was Freshman David D’Altorio, who finished 5th overall. D’Altorio’s time of 24:25.4 was the highest of any freshman, earning him Freshman of the Year honors. Spiro Papas, Kyle Woods, and Theo Paps finished not far behind at 6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively. Head Coach Rob Mizicko earned Coach of the Year honors  after capturing the team’s seventh championship title.
 
In second place were the Ashland Eagles, earning the team’s highest finish since joining the conference in 2021. Nate Slater paced the Eagles with a time of 24:23.6 to earn a 4th place finish. Not far behind Slater was teammate Wes Taylor, who finished in sixth place.
 
Tiffin’s Ramon Rodriguez was named the Runner of the Year, finishing in first place. Rodriguez registered a 6k time of 24:07, three seconds ahead of teammate Louis Ginane who finished in second place. The duo led the Dragons to a third place team finish.
 
Findlay and Hillsdale round out the top five with times of 2:04.32 and 2:04.51.
 
The Oilers swept the Elite 26 award as Elijah Hadler won on the men’s side. Hadler is a junior majoring in mathematics.
 
Teams will now prepare for the regional meet, held in Kenosha, Wisc.
