INDIANAPOLIS—The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour revealed associate member Seton Hill as the 2025 favorite.
Ten teams are in the conference standings this year with the addition of associate member Davenport as well as Northwood making their men’s lacrosse debut.
Seton Hill went 7-1 in the conference last season, losing their only game to now Division I program Mercyhurst. Head coach Brian Novotny returns Goalkeeper of the Year in Will Cody. Cody had the league’s lowest goals against average of 8.34 through 17 games played. The junior from Pottstown, PA registered a save percentage of .543, including 150 saves last season. In addition to Cody, the Griffins return two first team all-conference members in Carter Green and Alex Callahan. Green, a midfielder, appeared in all 28 games, totaling 38 points including 28 goals and 10 assists. Callahan is a defender that, alongside Will Cody, led Seton Hill to be one of the top defensive teams in the league last season. He picked up 51 ground balls and caused 28 turnovers on the year.
Newcomer Davenport was voted as the preseason runner-up in their first season competing in the G-MAC. Braylon Baker is the top returner for the Panthers after earning all-conference honors last season. Baker led the GLVC in points (4.71) and assists (2.29) per game while helping Davenport finish the season with a 10-4 overall record.
Lake Erie round out the top three, receiving one first-place vote. The Storm return last season’s top freshman in Andrew Cramer. During this rookie season, Cramer started in 14 games and registered 43 points, including 31 goals and 12 assists. Lake Erie totaled 73 points in the preseason poll.
Walsh is slated fourth followed by Wheeling in fifth. Joseph Rush, 2024 Specialist of the Year, returns for the Cavaliers. Rush led the league in ground balls per game with 10.40. His 10.40 ground balls per game shattered the previous G-MAC single season average of 10.25.
Senior Goalkeeper Austin Hall returns for the Cardinals after being selected to the all-conference team last season. Hall led the G-MAC in saves with 215 on the season.
Malone was selected sixth, followed by Thomas More in seventh. Tiffin, Northwood, and Davis & Elkins round out the preseason coaches poll.
