HILLSDALE, Mich. -- For the first time in program history, Hillsdale captures the 2024 Great Midwest Men's Cross Country Championship.
The Chargers were anchored with five top-20 finishers sealing the win on their home course. Richie Johnston lead the way for Hillsdale's pack in fifth place with Gabriel Phillips and Ross Kuhn also placing in the Top-10 rounding out the team's First Team All-Conference honorees. Charger head coach R.P. White was named 2024 Great Midwest Coach of the Year.
Findlay's Noah Fisher stopped the clock with a time of 24:27.5 to capture first place, 16.4 seconds faster than his teammate and second-place finisher Jordan Foster. Fisher's stellar finish clinched his second straight G-MAC Runner of the Year honor. The Oilers grabbed four of the Top-20 finishes to help propell the team to a runner-up finish.
Walsh also saw grabbed four Top-20 spots helping the Cavaliers to a third place finish as a team. The Cavaliers had previously won five-straight Great Midwest Corss Country ttiles dating back to the 2019-20 season. Senior Mitchell Dunham anchored the way for the Cavs with a third place finish as an individual.
Cedarville's Joseph Carroll finished with a time of 25:16.4 to take home the Freshman of the Year honorees.
The Elite 26 Award was given to Walsh's Lucas Keverkamp, a senior from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Teams will now turn their attention to the NCAA Midwest Regionals which will take place on Nov. 9 in Romeoville, Ill.
