NORTH CANTON, Ohio- The Walsh Women’s lacrosse team claimed its third Great Midwest Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams would trade goals to open the scoring, but Walsh would close out the first half ahead 5-2, after two second quarter goals from Chloe Tatlow.
Walsh’s Lindsyay Hindman put the Cavs ahead 6-2 to open up the second half.
Findlay answered with three straight goals to put the Oilers within one, before Hindman scored her second goal of the day to put Walsh ahead 7-5.
The Cavaliers went on to score two additional goals to secure their third title by a score of 9-8.
Walsh was led by Lindsay Hindman with four goals, while Chlow Tatlow added three. Both Hindman and Tatlow are joined by Melinda Maers on the all-tournament team.Goalkeeper Kathleen Mendenhall collected a game-high 17 saves and was named the tournament MVP.
Findlay was led by Olivia Alvarado with three goals, followed by Danielle Dilorenzo with two. Dilorenzo was an all-tournament selection, as well as Tessa Chuba, Madeline Shewbridge, and goalie Rachel Bornstein.
