GREENSBURG, Pa.- Mercyhurst captured its third Great Midwest Men’s Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, beating Seton Hill 11-9. It was the sixth consecutive time the two programs have met for the title.

Mercyhurst jumped to a 4-0 lead before Seton Hill’s Colin Socker put the Griffins on the board halfway through the second quarter. Five different Lakers would score in the first alone, the last coming off the stick of Colin Tardif to put Mercyhurst ahead 5-3 at the half.

Tardif and teammates Ethan Landymore opened up the second half with back-to-back goals to extend the lead 7-3.

Seton Hill would find some rhythm in the third. Blake Morrow and Jeremy Sforzo found the back of the net to put the Griffins within two. Later Nate Herbster would score two to cut the Lakers lead, but Mercyhurst would remain in the lead heading into the final quarter.
