NORTH CANTON, Ohio- Each participating institution was represented on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse All-Conference Team, released Thursday afternoon prior to the semi-final matchups.
The coaches voted for the all-conference team and individual award winners, which include a first team, second team, and third team.
Conference tournament top seed and host Walsh is getting ready to face the No. 4 seeded Tiffin Dragons, while No.2 Ashland will battle No. 3 Findlay.
Walsh was the conference regular season champion with 24 accumulated points in the spring standings. The Cavaliers recorded an undefeated mark of 8-0 in conference play and are 14-3 overall.
The Cavaliers were well represented in the individual awards including midfielder Lindsay Hindman staking claim to the Great Midwest Midfielder of the Year honor and Mallory Miller winning the Defensive Player of the Year.
Hindman recorded a shot-on-goal percentage of .707, while finishing seventh in the league with 32 goals this season.
Miller led a Walsh defense that caused a league-high 306 turnovers per game and 193 ground balls on the year. Individually, Miller averaged 2.19 ground balls per contest, while totaling 73 draw controls. She ranks third in caused turnovers a game at 1.56.
In her first season as head coach, Erin Smith of Walsh University was selected as the Coach of the Year after leading the Cavaliers to a regular season title and an 8-0 conference record. Walsh is ranked No. 6 in the NCAA Regional Rankings and will hope to advance to the Midwest Regional for the first time in program history.
Danielle Dilorenzo and Tessa Chuba from the University of Findlay earned Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively.
Dilorenzo led the league in goals (66) and points (75) per game. The Poughkeepsie, N.Y. native also led the conference in draw controls with 7.88 per game.
Dilorenzo’s teammate Tessa Chuba was recognized as the top Freshman in the league. Chuba appeared in 16 games and started in 15 during her first collegiate season. She totaled 33 goals this season at the attack position and had shot on-goal percentage of .817.
Walsh’s Sidney Klinger was awarded the Elite 26 Award for academic excellence. Klinger, a sophomore from Noblesville, Ind., is majoring in Actuarial Science.
