Northwood Crowned Great Midwest Champions

MASON, Ohio- After six games at Prasco Park, the Northwood Timberwolves are the 2023 Great Midwest Baseball Champions. Northwood, the tourney’s top seed, went 5-1 in the event and held on to win the decisive game 9-3 over Ohio Dominican.
 
Game 14: Northwood 9, Ohio Dominican 3
Northwood stayed alive and forced the necessary final game by jumping on Ohio Dominican early and maintaining a lead down the stretch in a 9-3 win. Jacob Rybicki led the charge for the Timberwolves, with four RBIs, including a home run.
 
Championship Game 15: Northwood 9, Ohio Dominican 3
The Timberwolves got off to a hot start, scoring four runs in the bottom of the second. Northwood extended their lead to 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth as Myles Beale, Matt Magno, and Rhett Evans each recorded an RBI. The Timberwolves would go on to score two more runs to earn the trophy in a 9-3 victory.
 
Grant LaMarche was credited with the win, giving up just one hit in six innings.
 
Coach of the Year Jake Sabol and his team will earn an automatic qualifying bid to the Midwest Regional. The NCAA Division II selection show is set to air on May 14 at 11 P.M. ET.
