OWENSBORO, Ky.- The No. 2 seed prevailed Saturday afternoon as Findlay took the 2023 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Championship title.
The Oilers defeated the Timberwolves 4-0 to claim the program’s first Great Midwest championship.
Findlay gained momentum early as Emily Hadler and Zuzanna Krygier as well as Elina Ivanova and Anamarija Kovacevic won at No.1 and No. 2 Doubles.
Three straight victories were won at the singles positions for Findlay, beginning with Elina Ivanova at No. 1 singles. Ivanova defeated her opponent by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. Laiying Alvarado earned points at No. 4 singles with 6-4 and 6-0 wins.
Zuzanna Krygier picked up wins (6-3, 6-4) at No. 6 singles to finish off the day.
Head Coach Jeff Westmeyer and his program will wait and see where the postseason takes them as the regional selections will be announced Monday, April 24 at 8:30 P.M. ET.
