Great Midwest Teams and Individuals Set to Compete at Nationals

INDIANAPOLIS—Teams and individuals that secured automatic qualifications and at-large selections were announced Monday evening for the 2023 Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships.
 
In order to be eligible for the national meet, student-athletes had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held last weekend.
 
Student-athletes from the Great Midwest competed in the Midwest regional last weekend in Evansville, IN. On the women’s side, G-MAC Runner of the Year Liz Wamsley took home the gold with a personal-best time of 20:04.50. Cedarville continued their fall success with a second place finish at regionals. Hannah Rhem led the pack, finishing runner-up with a time of 20:08.8. The Yellow Jackets clocked a team time of 1:44:53, with three top-20 finishes.
 
On the men’s side, Walsh University will advance to the national meet after finishing 4th in the region. The Cavaliers finished with a time of 2:38.35, led by Drew Monahan who finished 12th. A handful of men’s cross country runners qualified as individuals. Noah Fisher (UF), Isaiah Kelly (CU), and Ramen Felumlee (CU) secured bids to compete on the national stage. Fisher, the Great Midwest Runner of the Year, finished second overall with a 10K time of 30:49.5. Kelly also finished in the top five with a 31:08.0 time. Felumlee took home 14th place with a qualifying time of 31:15.3.
 
The NCAA Division II National Championship is set to take place on Saturday, Nov. 18 in Joplin, Mo. The women’s race will begin at 11 A.M. ET followed by the men at 12:15 P.M.
