NEW ORLEANS – The Walsh and Cedarville men’s cross country teams made an appearance in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll of the season.
The Cavaliers are No. 13 in the Week 1 poll released Wednesday, moving up one spot from their preseason rank. Walsh started the season with a first-place finish at the Wooster Invitational on Sept. 1. The Cavs sit at No. 2 in the Midwest Region rankings behind Grand Valley State.
Cedarville moves into the rankings after receiving votes in the preseason poll. The YellowJackets sit at No. 27 in the Week 1 poll. Cedarville started the season finishing in third-place behind Ohio State and Dayton at the Mike Baumer Classic hosted by Wright State. Cedarville moved up one spot in the Midwest Region rankings to sixth this week.
Next up, Cedarville will host its annual All-Ohio Championship featuring five Great Midwest teams including Walsh on Sept. 16.
