Odom, Boswell Headline All-Great Midwest Baseball Honors

5.15.22

By: Great Midwest Athletic Conference

After standout seasons for Trevecca Nazarene and Tiffin, respectively, Braden Odom and Michael Boswell were voted as the top players in the Great Midwest for 2022. Odom was picked as Great Midwest Baseball Player of the Year and Boswell the league's pitcher of the year.

Odom, an all-conference and all-region player in 2021, mashed a league-high 23 home runs and drove in 65 with 62 runs scored. He hit 18 home runs with a .336 batting average in conference play and will close his TNU career with several school records. Boswell went 8-3 with a 1.96 ERA overall, striking out 98 batters over 78 innings. He fanned 16 batters in his conference tournament start vs. Walsh. In conference play, Boswell was 6-1 with a 1.04 ERA.

Brady Maciak of 2022 conference champion Walsh was voted the conference freshman of the year after batting .368 with a .431 on-base percentage and a team-best seven home runs in league play. Tiffin's Thomas Thamann was the Elite 25 award winner for academic excellence.

Todd Lillpop and Joe Wilkins were both voted coach of the year after successful seasons. Wilkins coached the Dragons to a 22-6 conference mark and first place in the league standings. TU is ranked in the most recent regional rankings and it didn't lose a single conference series. Lillpop kept a young Panthers team together after an 0-14 start and they peaked at the right time, playing their way into the fourth seed in the tournament.

Nine Tiffin players were voted all-conference, four of the first-team picks. Nine Trevecca Nazrene are all-conference, including six first-teamers.

Walsh won the Great Midwest's automatic bid into the NCAA Baseball Championship, which will announce its field Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET.
