Men's Lacrosse Challenge Cup Is Back

3.15.22

By: Great Midwest Conference

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference and the East Coast Conference are battling it out for regional supremacy on the lacrosse field. Six teams from each league will square off in the Great Midwest-ECC Lacrosse Challenge Cup event throughout the spring.

Two matches have already taken place with Seton Hill of the Great Midwest claiming the first win and St. Thomas Aquinas evening the series with a win over Alderson Broaddus. Wheeling will host Dyouville March 25 and the showdown between each league’s 2021 champion is set for April 2 when Mercyhurst travels to Mercy College.

Both Mercyhurst and Mercy are currently ranked in the top 10 in the most recent USILA poll. Walsh-Roberts Wesleyan and Frostburg State-Davis & Elkins conclude the six-game series.

The 2022 season marks the third year of the challenge, with the East Coast securing the title in 2019 and the Great Midwest taking the Challenge Cup in 2021. In conjunction with the annual challenge, the East Coast and Great Midwest conferences will each make a donation to Team Impact on behalf of their men’s lacrosse programs.
