WBB Championship: Seeds Hold In Quarters

Seeds helds in the quarterfinal round of the Great Midwest Women's Basketball Championship on Tuesday. No. 3 seed Kentucky Wesleyan held on to edge No. 6 seed Malone in a wild finish and No. 4 seed Findlay cruised over fifth-seeded Cedarville. 

Ashland, the regular season champion and top seed, will host Friday's semis and Saturday's final. AU will play Findlay at 5:30 p.m. before #2 Walsh takes on Kentucky Wesleyan. Saturday's title game is set for 3 p.m. at Ashland.

#3 Kentucky Wesleyan 64, #6 Malone 62 - Box Score
OWENSBORO, Ky. - KWC's Cali Nolot made two fouls shots with a second remaining to lift the host Panthers past Malone. The game was tied at 62 when Malone's Emma Kallas missed a shot and Nolot grabbed the rebound. A foul was called on the rebound, and Nolot converted both free throws to send KWC to the semifinal round.

Malone, which led at one point by 12 points, made 11 3-pointers on the day. MU owned a 36-29 lead at halftime before KWC rallied. A 3-pointer late in the 3rd quarter gave the home team the lead after three periods, and the two teams battled until the exciting finish.

Nolot finished with 14 points and Shaylee McDonald scored 13.

Holly Groff scored 30 points and made six 3-pointers for Malone

#4 Findlay 77, #5 Cedarville 62  - Box Score
FINDLAY, Ohio - Findlay broke open a close game with a big second quarter and cruised for the rest of the night, downing Cedarville 77-62 to advance. Five players scored in double figures, led by Sydney Kin's 19 points.

The game was tied after the first quarter when UF oustcored CU 19-10 in the second. Findlay dominated inside, scoring 54 points in the paint and shooting nine more free throws then Cedarville. Findlay shot 64 percent in the second half and also grabbed 11 offensive rebounds despite the high shooting percentage. Lauren Hapgood added 15 points and three others had 10 or more.

CU was led by Allison Mader with 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting.
