NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released their national rankings Wednesday afternoon. Walsh and newcomer Northwood represent the Great Midwest in this week’s men’s cross country rankings.
Walsh remains in the top 20 at No. 12 after a strong performance at the Paul Short Invite. The Cavaliers, led by graduate transfer Zach Kreft, placed 24
th overall out of 46 teams. Kreft recorded an 8K time of 23:14.9 to earn eighth place out of over 415 runners across all divisions. His time ranks as the fastest 8K time in both Walsh and Great Midwest history. Other strong performers include Nathan Moore, who finished in the top 100 with a time of 23:57.4 and Mitchel Dunham with a time of 24:42.21. The maroon and gold will look to continue their success Saturday, October 15
th at the Inter-Regional Rumble in Oberlin, Ohio.
Also cracking the top 30 for the first time in program history is Northwood University. The Timberwolves are slotted at No. 28 after a commendable performance in the Gold division at the Live at the Lou Classic. With Dillan Haviland leading the pack, Northwood placed 40
th overall out of 47 teams. Haviland broke the school record for the 8K with a 24:04.0 time. The Timberwolves finished with 474 points and placed ahead several Division I teams. Northwood will compete at the Warrior Challenge Saturday, October 22
