INDIANAPOLIS – Nationally and regionally ranked Walsh had a pair of event winners at the Tommy Evans Invitational to open the fall with both Great Midwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week honors on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers defeated Division I Buffalo and Kent State along with conference rival Malone to claim the team title at the 53rd Tommy Evans Invitational hosted by Akron.
The 4 mile event featured a strong performance at the top by Walsh with five of the top seven finishers, including the Indiana University transfer Moore.
Moore ran to a top time of 19:15.10 in a field of 64 runners while averaging 4:48.80 in his mile split.
Walsh registered a team time of 1:38.11. Teammate Drew Roberts was the runner-up followed by freshman Nathan Moore and Mitchel Dunham and Drew Monahan finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Women’s Athlete of the Week

Leppelmeier topped the field, including two-time conference runner of the year Makenna Curtis-Collins of Malone, at the Tommy Evans Invitational 5K race.
Leppelmeier helped Walsh finish second as a team only behind host Akron while beating Buffalo and Kent State just like the Cavaliers’ men.
Leppelmeier won the 5K race by over 17 seconds with a time of 17:41.40. It ranks as the sixth-fastest time in conference history for that mileage.
She was joined in the top 10 by freshman Alex Bauer and last year’s conference freshman of the year Teja Young.
