INDIANAPOLIS – First-year league member Ashland staked claim to both selections of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Week honors as announced on Monday morming.
The Eagles participated in the Northwood Invitational, a 6K men’s format and a 5K women’s course setup. Northwood is a future member of the conference set for admission for the 2022-23 academic year.
This is Ashland’s second and third conference weekly honor as a member following the opening week selection in women’s soccer for defensive accolades.
Men’s Athlete of the Week

Reimund was the top finisher for the Eagles in their fall debut as Ashland was runner-up at the Northwood Invitational.
The senior recorded a sixth-place finish overall in the field with a time of 19:24.70 and averaged 3:14.11 per mile. Reimund was joined in the top 10 by teammates Ian Johnson and Nick Ponzi.
Ashland only trailed the host Timberwolves in the team scoring with a combined time of 1:38.23.
Ashland, along with other Great Midwest schools, will be headed to Cedarville for the All-Ohio Championship next weekend. The Yellow Jackets’ Elvin R. King Course is also the home for this year’s conference championship meet.
Women’s Athlete of the Week

Whitehouse, OH (Anthony Wayne HS)
The Eagles’ women’s program matched the men with a runner-up team performance at the Northwood Invitational, only behind Northern Michigan in the 5K times.
Moser’s season debut was a winning one as she crossed the tape in 18:50.50, about two seconds and change before runner-up Madison Malon of NMU.
Moser averaged 3:46.10 per mile in the race.
Ashland was also helped with a top-10 finish from Cassandra Ponzi and the Eagles had a combined team time of 1:42.16.
