Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week (May 6)

INDIANAPOLIS – Prior to the league’s postseason tournament, seeding was on the line as the final regular season Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week awards were handed out to Walsh.
 
The Cavaliers are hosting the semifinals and championship game from North Canton after officially securing the regular season title, the program’s first, with a big win over Tiffin.
 
The conference point totals have Walsh with the top seed, Tiffin at No. 2, Findlay at No. 3 and Ursuline at No. 4. The competing programs have accomplished a full regular season, including matchups against each other three times, while getting ready for the tournament semis on Thursday.
 
The all-conference team as voted upon by the coaches will be released on Friday afternoon.
 
Offensive Player of the Week

Hindman has scored in all but one of her team’s 12 games this spring and is heading into the playoffs on a high note after netting a season-high 5 goals vs. Tiffin.
 
The junior mid has actually recorded a goal in 12 consecutive games after not scoring in the season opener vs. nationally ranked Roberts Wesleyan.
 
Hindman added an assist in the road win vs. the Dragons that allowed the Cavaliers to earn the conference regular season title. She added five draw controls with one caused turnover. Hindman recorded the five shots, all on goal.
 
On the season, Hindman has delivered 33 goals and six assists for a total of 39 points.

Walsh finished the spring with a 7-6 overall record as Mendenhall has logged nearly 750 minutes while making 92 saves this year.
 
The Cavaliers brought the offensive firepower vs. Tiffin on Sunday and Mendenhall faced a total of 16 shots while being credited with three saves.
 
Mendenhall has made double-digit saves in three games this year including a season-best 12 vs. Mercyhurst and Davenport. She has a save percentage of over 36 percent and has been the keeper of record for Walsh in each contest.
