INDIANAPOLIS – The battle for the top seed in the standings went down to the final day of the regular season to set up the bracket for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Walsh defeated Tiffin in the last matchup before the playoffs to officially lock in the regular season title with 15 conference points totaled.
The four conference championship tournament qualifiers, No. 1 Walsh, No. 2 Tiffin, No. 3 Findlay and No. 4 Ursuline, will compete at Larry Staudt Field for the semifinals on Thursday with the championship game slated for Saturday.
All four teams competed this spring in a tough schedule against each other three times and against some very strong Midwest Region opponents.
In four years with women's lacrosse as an active sport, there have been four different member institutions have been crowned conference champions: Findlay (2019), Lake Erie (2018), Alderson Broaddus (2017) and Ursuline (2016). With the 2020 postseason wiped out due to COVID-19, Findlay is bidding for back-to-back titles and Ursuline is vying to become a two-time champion.
Both Walsh and Tiffin are looking to sustain the historical trend of a new first-time conference champion when the the dust settles on Saturday.
All three games of the conference postseason will be streamed on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
Ursuline will face Walsh on Thursday at 7:45 pm ET and Findlay and Tiffin will square off in the early game at 5 p.m. ET.
The conference championship match will feature the semifinal winners on Saturday at a projected start time of 5 p.m. ET.
