– The regular season have may been decided, but there was still some exciting moments to decide the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship field for this week’s postseason tournament.

Lake Erie defeated Davis & Elkins on Sunday to lock in the fourth and final spot of the bracket. No. 1 Mercyhurst, No. 2 Seton Hill and No. 3 Walsh, have also clinched a playoff berth for Wednesday’s semifinals

Conference regular season champion Mercyhurst and Seton Hill will each host a semifinal contest on Wednesday while the advancing programs will compete for a conference tournament title on Saturday at the top seed site remaining.

The four conference championship qualifiers are also looking to impress the regional advisory committee for the North Region with NCAA Championship qualification also on the line in a reduced field size for 2021.

The Great Midwest also emerged as the winner of the Great Midwest/East Coast Conference Cup Challenge, a rivalry that was decided by a 2-to-1 count this spring. On March 9, it was Roberts Wesleyan winning the first duel in favor of the ECC. But Walsh ended up defeating Molloy on April 17 and most recently, nationally ranked Seton Hill was able to down No. 4 ranked Mercy on April 24, to secure the league’s first season cup victory.

After going back-to-back in 2017 and 2018 with championship tournament wins for associate member Seton Hill, Mercyhurst took the mantle in 2019 before the spring of 2020 was abruptly cut short.

Mercyhurst will host Lake Erie on Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET while Seton Hill welcomes Walsh for another battle that starts at 11 AM ET.

The conference championship match will feature the semifinal winners on Saturday at a time that is still to be determined.
