ERIE, Pa. – North Region No. 3 seed and Great Midwest Athletic Conference champion Mercyhurst is officially in the final four of the NCAA Division II Men’s Lacrosse Championship bracket.

The Lakers and the Griffins of Seton Hill, both Great Midwest associate members, had initially qualified for the reduced tournament bracket of 10 programs from both the North Region and South Region.

Seton Hill was the fourth seed and played against No. 5 Saint Anselm on Friday in first round action of the North Region bracket. The Griffins had a valiant effort but came up just short in a heartbreaking overtime final in a 12-11 score.

Seton Hill finished with an 11-3 record as Logan Gray and Kevin Mo each earned individual Great Midwest postseason awards as specialist and goalkeeper of the year, respectively.

Mercyhurst (12-1 overall) was poised for a regular season rematch against No. 2 seed Mercy from the East Coast Conference but learned on Friday the game was declared a no contest due to COVID protocols.

The Lakers move on and will now face No. 1 seed Le Moyne in the North Region Championship match inside the final four of the bracket next Sunday in Erie at Saxon Stadium with a 1 p.m. ET start.

In the other half of the bracket down in the South Region, it is No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne set to clash against No. 2 Wingate. This is the first time a Great Midwest member institution, associate or full, will have advanced into the semifinal round of the men’s lacrosse championship bracket.

The winner of next Sunday’s matches will compete for the coveted national championship on May 30 at 1 p.m. ET to be played in East Hartford, CT, at Rentschler Field.

All remaining matchups will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
